Papillon 2017: A Tribute to the Original Film and Its Stars

Papillon is a 2017 drama film directed by Michael Noer and also the last film by Red Granite Pictures. It tells the story of French convict Henri Charrière (Charlie Hunnam), nicknamed Papillon ("butterfly"), who was imprisoned in 1933 in the notorious Devil's Island penal colony and escaped in 1941 with the help of another convict, counterfeiter Louis Dega (Rami Malek). The film's screenplay is based on Charrière's autobiographies Papillon and Banco, as well as the former's 1973 film adaptation, which was written by Dalton Trumbo and Lorenzo Semple Jr. and starred Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman.[2]

Penned from carefully chosen sites spread throughout various regions in Napa Valley, the 2017 Papillon is deep, rich and inky, and on the palate the wine is loaded with ripe berries, currants, black chocolates and liquid floral. The only thing bigger than the massive bottle, is the wine inside, which is made in a full-throttle, pedal to the metal style that leaves a lasting impression.

Papillon 2017

After three long years, an undisputed Wine Access member-favorite returns: The 2017 Papillon Napa Valley Red Wine from California icon and iconoclast Dave Phinney is everything you expect from the genius behind The Prisoner, and everything you crave from an unapologetic blockbuster of a Napa red.

Pouring black as a starless night and boasting jammy notions of blueberry preserve, cherry pie, and boysenberry, the 2017 Papillon is accented by toasted vanilla, mocha, and sweet spice, and built on a towering structure of sweet fruit-leather tannins. Massive and assertive, this Bordeaux-style red blend is not shy, and not for the shy.

This Papillon remake is not a failure, but it is also not necessary. Charlie Hunnam is excellent as French convict Papillon, imprisoned at Devil's Island and forced to deal with violence, isolation and hopelessness. He cannot match Steve McQueen's dramatic flair, but he does not have to. Rami Malek steps into the role Dustin Hoffman made famous in 1973 and bests his performance. This Blu-ray looks and sounds excellent but only offers deleted scenes as a bonus. Rent It and see if you will ever revisit Papillon (2017) again.

Papillon is a movie directed by Michael Noer in 2017 and based on the book Banco: The Further Adventures of Papillon by Henri Charrière, first published in 1972. The movie features Charlie Hunnam, Rami Malek, Tommy Flanagan, Roland Møller, Eve Hewson, Ian Beattie, and others.

I saw in "Papillon 2017" Michael Socha (Mikhail). We didn't discuss about Michael so often. I think he's so underrated. He was on set amongst with Rami Malek and Charlie Hunnam. He also attended the Papillon premiere in Edinburgh. He is a big fan of the Papillon book and 1973 original film. He had an appearance at the beginning of the film. And his character's name is Julot. 2ff7e9595c
